Tarongers was born out of a desire to blur the boundaries between the house and the landscape. Set on a steep hillside, the garden adapts to the topography and descends across different levels, creating a sequence of spaces that are gradually revealed and offer new perspectives on the surroundings.
The vegetation envelops the pathways with a Californian-inspired palette adapted to the Mediterranean climate. Shades of grey, blue and soft greens, grasses and sculptural plant species blend with the existing vegetation to create a lush, slightly wild landscape that is deeply connected to the site. The planting is organised into different layers, ranging from structural trees and shrubs to a continuous mat of grasses and groundcovers that forms the garden’s foundation.
Stone, wood, earth and vegetation form a natural and noble materiality, designed to age and gradually blend into the landscape. Architecture, planting and topography cease to be perceived as separate elements and instead form part of a single composition.
A garden in which to lose oneself, where little by little the house fades away and the woodland becomes home.
